Hey, Bridget! I’m super excited you’re going to plant a fall garden. I don’t think you’re too late in south Mississippi. I would buy brocoli and cauliflower plants, and start the rest from seed or bulbs as the case may be. Potatoes may not come up till next year, but it won’t hurt to put them in the ground. Greens will grow easily from seed. Carrots may take up to 3 weeks to sprout so don’t give up on them! Garlic and onions are about the easiest plants you can grow. I think you and your kiddos will have a great time with it!

You’ve got me convinced! I’m in South Mississippi, and we just got our first cool day today (low 58, high 69), but it will be warming back up into the 80s for an indefinite amount of time. I like to call this time of year “false fall” lol

Anyway, I’m considering broccoli, potatoes, garlic, onions, greens (romaine, spinach, maybe some chard), cauliflower, and carrots. Am I too late???

I feel like starting all from seeds might be a bit over reaching for me (I’ve got a 3 and 1 year old and not so much indoor space)… do I need to buy plants? Can I do some from seeds? Help!
